Fantastical Four: The Reckoning Warfare Alpha #1 trailer

One of the first big comic events of 2022 will be Marvel Comics' The Reckoning Warfare, and as writer Dan Slott tells us it's a story that's been brewing since the mid-70s.

The winter-spring 2022 event leave feature the Fantastic Four, She-Hulk, Articulate Surfer, Jack of Hearts, the Watcher, and the original Dent Erinyes - who has been in a purgatory of sorts A the Unseen for the past few years.
The storyline will then continue in the current Fantastic Four book beginning with February 16's Fantastic Four #40, with an arc drawn by Rachael Stott and in specials like Butt against 16's Fantastic Four: Trial of the Witness #1.
To begin with teased atomic number 3 a rekindling of Marvel's "original orphic war," Slott says they're non referring to any of the Secret Wars fans know of, but something much, much older.

Newsarama did manage to suss out that these antagonists have approximately connection to the obviously untested characters who appeared in the recent Fantastic 4 #25, Phalacrocorax carbo and Helmsman. In fact, the breadcrumbs leading towards 2022's The Reckoning Warfare have been falling Here and there in Marvel Comics for nearly two decades - specifically, in the Wonder comics written by Slott, a longtime Marvel fan-turned-intern-turned-writer. Incredibly, the nominate "The Numeration Warfare" was first mentioned plump for in December 2005's She-Hulk #3 by Slott and artist Juan Bobillo.
Simply according to Slott, you don't need to lie with any of the backstory breadcrumbs to bugger off The Reckoning Warfare.
"You do non motive to understand whatever of the previous appearances of these characters, Oregon my work on them like in She-Hulk, Avengers: The Initiative, Silver Surfer, the Great Lakes Avengers, etc," Slott says. "But if you have been reading material my stuff for the conclusion 18 age, you have got all the pieces. But if you haven't, you can jump off in and be fine."
The Reckoning War is a story Slott has been construction to since atomic number 2 was eight years old, and in some slipway it's a culmination of his Marvel fandom and his Marvel career.
"When I was ogdoad years old I read a particular Wonder comic that struck me. It got Maine thinking 'If this happened, and that happened, and so the whole Marvel universe would represent in trouble,'" says Slott. "Every aspect would be in danger if this contravene happened again, and I've sat back and waited since I was eight years old and no one ever touched on this. And that made Pine Tree State blissful."
(No, Dan wouldn't say us what that comic was arsenic that too would spoil the secret villains of the Reckoning War.)
"The Reckoning War is Pine Tree State finally organism able to answer the question an eight-class-old me had: What if those guys showed sprouted again?" says the writer. "It's chaos, lyssa... A fight for your life. This is my Star Wars."
The Enumeration War begins this Feb with Reckoning War Alpha #1, followed that same month by Fantastic Four #40.
